Our Christmas for Kids fundraiser is a great way to connect with the community and give directly to the children we support. We coordinate the event, in cooperation with Partners Mentoring Youth, a one-to-one mentoring program. Early on a Saturday morning in December, we give 50 children a $50 gift card and they “take to the aisles” of a department store for a holiday shopping spree. The Partners youth are assisted by their Mentor (Senior Partner) and a Northern Colorado Active 20-30 adult, with a mission - to go holiday shopping for members of their families. As the children plow through the store with their Senior Partner in tow, they listen, learn to budget, and develop a shopping list for their family members.

In 2007 after the shopping was complete everyone convened at the gymnasium of Miramont Lifestyle Fitness to wrap gifts, meet the Colorado State Women’s Basketball Team and have a hearty breakfast donated by the Egg & I Restaurant. Then, after a wild time at the gift wrap tables we gave each child a surprise gift. Our goal for 2008 is to build on the momentum we create with the second annual Suitcase Party and make it even more memorable than 2007.
